The Fuga group is a family business established in Marau, a city in southern Brazil, by immigrants from Northern Italy.

The origin of the surname derives from the Medieval period, in which a man (later called Fuga a Venezia) helped many people to escape from Altinum (an important medieval city in Northern Italy that suffered from the attacks of the terrible Attila) in Venice in the 5th century, becoming a noble family and famous glass producers in Venice and Murano for over 700 years, also becoming an important family for the Serenissima Republic of Venice.

Between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, due to political and economic crises, part of the family moved to Treviso, in the Veneto region.

Around 1880, in search of a better future, another part of the family moved to Brazil, working as shoe repairers, until the founding of the tannery.

It was 1947 when José Fuga founded
the tannery then called Curtume Marauense Ltda
in Marau, at that time a small village in southern Brazil.

José Fuga's life is subsequently concentrated in the tannery, in fact his house would also be built there. With the marriage and expansion of the family, the founder would gradually lead the growing success of the now famous Fuga Couros.

Since its foundation, the company has continued to grow and diversify its business, in a constant and reliable way.

Almost eighty years of experience in the market makes Fuga Couros one of the reference names in the leather sector and its supply chain, recognized internationally as a synonym of quality.
